A training seminar on public monitoring of the upcoming municipal elections was held in the urban-type settlement of Buturlino, bringing together representatives from the Buturlinsky, Bolsheboldinsky, Vadsky, Lyskovsky, Pochinkovsky, Pilninsky and Pervomaysky districts.
At the seminar, conducted by experts from the Public Chamber of the Nizhny Novgorod Region, the basics of electoral law, the rights and responsibilities of public observers, and mechanisms for appropriately responding to potential problem situations on voting days were considered.
A high level of preparation for the elections will allow public observers to pool their efforts to the fullest extent to ensure the transparency and fairness of the elections.
“During public observation, representatives of the various peoples inhabiting Russia unite for a common goal – to ensure voters’ confidence in the fairness of the elections. A sense of involvement in the common cause truly consolidates public observers, contributing to the development of interethnic dialogue and strengthening the unity of the nation,” said Roman Golubin, chair of the regional Public Chamber commission on implementing the fundamentals of state policy for preserving and strengthening traditional Russian spiritual and moral values, and head of the regional branch of the Assembly of the Peoples of Russia.
The work of observers on voting days will also be aimed at curbing various unauthorized actions intended to discredit the election results.
“The population of our country understands well that the territorial integrity and national sovereignty of Russia are under threat today. In these circumstances, the legitimacy of the elected authorities acquires particular significance. Those who are participating in elections as public observers not for the first time, and those trying themselves in this role for the first time, share an understanding of the importance of their training and the significance of truly independent observation. They understand that the work of observers at polling stations determines citizens’ objective opinion of the election results,” emphasized Sergey Davydov, a member of the regional Public Chamber.
