      According to the Federal State Budgetary Institution "Upper Volga UGMS", on 10 August heavy rains are expected in places in the Nizhny Novgorod region and in Nizhny Novgorod in the coming hours, which will persist until the evening.

      In this regard, the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Emergency Situations for the region warned of the risk of emergencies related to local flooding due to clogging of storm drains and drainage systems.

      Flooding of low-lying areas, roads, low-water bridges, supports of power and communication lines, as well as agricultural lands, is possible. An increase in the number of road traffic accidents, difficulties in the movement of all types of transport, disruptions in the operation of housing and communal services, landslides and slope washouts also pose a danger.

      The Main Directorate of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia for the Nizhny Novgorod Region urges citizens to take precautions: when driving personal vehicles, reduce speed, as rain impairs visibility and shoulders and unpaved roads become more slippery, which can lead to skidding and loss of control of the vehicle.
