      In Soviet times women often used beer to rinse their hair, substituting it for unavailable cosmetic products. However, Nizhny Novgorod trichologist Tatyana Varenova debunked this myth, writes the Telegram channel "Bokal Presseka."

      According to her, such a procedure is useless: for B vitamins from brewer's yeast to be absorbed, the drink must be in contact with the hair for at least five hours.

      Modern beer, unlike traditional recipes, contains alcohol that dries the scalp and makes hair dull and brittle. In addition, brewer's yeast can provoke the growth of fungi and bacteria. Blondes should be especially careful — dark varieties of beer can impart an undesirable tint to the hair. The expert emphasizes: beer cannot replace professional hair care, and its use is more likely to harm than help.
