A 25-year-old resident of the Sormovsky district of Nizhny Novgorod became a victim of remote fraud, losing a large sum of money. Details were provided by the regional Ministry of Internal Affairs press service.

The young man received a call from an unknown person who introduced themselves as a law enforcement officer. The scammer informed him that a suspicious financial transaction was supposedly being conducted in his name and needed to be urgently canceled.

Under the pretext of protecting his savings and their "declaration," the caller convinced the man to travel to Moscow. There, at one of the train stations, he was supposed to hand over cash to a "courier," who would allegedly take it to a safe location.

Following the instructions, the young man transferred 950,000 rubles to an unknown individual. After that, contact with the "policeman" was terminated.

A criminal case has been initiated under Part 3 of Article 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation — "Fraud."

Law enforcement officers are conducting search operations to identify and apprehend the perpetrators.

Earlier, it was reported that a missing Nizhny Novgorod student was found in a hostel in the Moscow region. At first, the girl claimed she had staged the kidnapping to fool her relatives. However, it was later revealed that she had fallen victim to scammers.
