Incidents The Moscow District Court of Nizhny Novgorod postponed the consideration of the criminal case against former city manager Oleg Kondrashov. The new hearing is scheduled for the end of August.
This decision was made on August 6 after an audio recording of Kondrashov's conversation with entrepreneur Mamuka Losaberidze was presented in court. During the hearing, the defense demanded access to a number of tangible evidence, including video and audio materials, reports NewsNN. Most of these materials concern Kondrashov's communication with Losaberidze, from whom, according to investigators, the ex-official received bribes.
The investigation claims that the money was transferred in exchange for assistance in allocating a land plot at the Novo-Sormovsky Cemetery for building a crematorium, as well as for establishing control over the city’s funeral services.
In the presented audio recording, Losaberidze asserts that he transferred 24 million rubles to Deputy Head of Administration Vladimir Privolov. According to him, Privolov acted on behalf of Kondrashov. The businessman also demanded the return of the transferred funds.
Kondrashov responded that he was unaware of the money transfer, did not request any funds from Losaberidze, and that Privolov acted independently. Nevertheless, as lawyers reported, Kondrashov returned the money to the entrepreneur, fearing for his safety due to threats received.
After reviewing the case materials, the defense requested to postpone the hearing. The lawyers plan to interrogate witnesses and organize a videoconference with an expert from Moscow. The court granted the motion and postponed the session to the end of the month.
It is worth noting that the investigation suspects former Nizhny Novgorod administration head Kondrashov of receiving bribes for patronage in the funeral business. The former official, who is currently in the USA, denies his guilt.
