Nizhny Novgorod participant in the special military operation with the call sign "Vodolay" has been on the front line since 2022. Raised in a military family, he decided at an early age to dedicate his life to serving the Motherland.
"I spent my childhood in a military town. My great-grandfather fought on the fronts of the Great Patriotic War. My father is a career military officer and is currently also involved in the special operation. Since the start of the SVO, I submitted a report requesting deployment to the combat zone. As a serviceman, I possess the necessary knowledge and skills, and I am physically prepared. I simply couldn't stay aside during difficult times for our country," shared the SVO participant.
In the special operation, the daily tasks of the Nizhny Novgorod resident included humanitarian demining—detecting and destroying explosive devices left in damaged areas. The unit also was involved in obtaining water for the civilian population, which earned the soldier his call sign "Vodolay."
"The infrastructure is destroyed, and water supply was very poor. We drilled wells, extracted and distributed water. The residents were always glad to see us, especially elderly people. They said: 'Guys, finally, you arrived!' The enemy propagates Nazi ideology, and we fight against him for a bright future for our children. Our values are completely different from theirs. Their military doctrine is brutal—they do not spare anyone. When they retreat from cities where they suffered defeat, they deliberately shell multi-story buildings," said "Vodolay."
For bravery, selflessness, and personal courage demonstrated in defending the Motherland, the serviceman was awarded the Zhukov Medal.
After returning from the zone of the special operation, "Vodolay" continues to serve at a military training center, where he trains personnel and prepares junior engineering specialists.
"If given a task—to go back on a special operation—we are ready to fulfill all our obligations. Victory will be ours because God and the truth are with us!" confidently states the SVO participant.
Let us remind that the state provides material support to defenders of the Motherland and assists their families. Those who sign a contract and are sent to the SVO zone are issued certificates for 10 hectares of land in the Nizhny Novgorod region. The certificate can be used two years after receipt.
Additionally, the Nizhny Novgorod region has a mechanism for concluding military social contracts, which additionally guarantees each family of a contract serviceman 10,000 rubles per month per child, benefits for utility payments, preschool services, and other types of support. Individual family support for servicemen is also provided.
The dispatch of residents of the Nizhny Novgorod region to their duty station and the issuance of additional gear are coordinated by the support center for mobilized servicemen and their families operating at the House of People's Unity. At the same time, the region continues to actively support servicemen by sending humanitarian aid to the zone of the special military operation.
