An investor for the renovation of the Needlework School building is being sought in Arzamas.

      Society In Arzamas, Nizhny Novgorod Region, applications are now being accepted for the competition to sell the building of the former craft school — a regional cultural heritage site. The organizer of the auction is DOM.RF; applications are accepted until September 8, 2025. The lot includes a building of 3,300 sq. m and a land plot of 0.34 hectares offered for lease. The starting price is 43.49 million rubles. The auction is scheduled for September 12 and is part of the presidential program for the restoration of historical and architectural monuments. The object, known as Building No. 1, is located at 101 Lenin Avenue, Arzamas. It is part of the “School of Craft Apprentices” ensemble, protected by the state. The building was constructed at the end of the 19th century and exemplifies industrial-administrative architecture of that era. Historically, the craft school housed classrooms, a library, a physics lab, workshops, and living quarters for teachers. After the revolution, the institution changed its profile several times—from a craft school to a tractor-mechanical technical school. Viktor Novikov, the first Hero of the Soviet Union from Arzamas, taught here. Until recently, the building was used for its original purpose; however, it is currently in poor condition. The new owner will be required to conduct restoration work and ensure preservation of the historical appearance, as well as comply with operational requirements. As part of the program, investors can benefit from preferential lending at an interest rate of 4% per annum. Funds may be used for developing project documentation, restoring the building, and adapting it for modern use—for example, as a hotel, restaurant, or other commercial projects. Nizhny Novgorod Region is among the pilot regions implementing a joint initiative by DOM.RF and the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation.
