      A civil servant from Balakhna was fined for violating the deadlines for reviewing a complaint.

      According to the Nizhny Novgorod Interdistrict Environmental Prosecutor’s Office, the violation was found during an inspection of compliance with legislation regarding the procedure for considering citizens’ appeals at the municipal district administration.

      Investigators established that a local resident submitted an appeal to the administration demanding the removal of a landfill. However, an authorized official violated the legally established deadline for reviewing the complaint.

      At the initiative of the environmental prosecutor, a decision to hold the official accountable was sent to court. The magistrate of the Balakhna judicial district found the official guilty under Article 5.59 of the Administrative Offenses Code of the Russian Federation — for violating the procedure for reviewing citizens’ appeals.

      As a result, the official was fined 5,000 rubles.

      It should be noted that in February, an illegal construction debris landfill was discovered near the village of Vategino in the Balakhna district.
