United Metallurgical Company (UMK) purchased two mobile cafes for Vyksa, which have started operating on the embankment of the Verkhnevyksunsky Pond. The food trucks offer residents and visitors hot dogs, puffs, coffee, lemonades, iced tea, and milkshakes.
Previously, similar establishments appeared in the city only during the "Vyksa Festival" (12+) and other large-scale events. Now they will operate year-round.
According to the company, the launch of the food trucks was a response to residents' wishes: survey results showed that one-third of respondents indicated a lack of diverse cuisine options, and over 40% of teenagers noted a shortage of fast food points.
The mobile cafes complement a project by local entrepreneur Sergey Korolev. The food trucks have been leased to Vyksa entrepreneurs until April 2026. Until the end of summer, they will operate on the embankment of the Upper Pond, with alternative locations being considered for winter.
"The acquisition of mobile cafes is part of UMK's systematic efforts to develop the service and gastronomy sector in the city. After a month of operation, we see that our food trucks are popular not only among youth but among Vyksa residents of all ages. Mobile cafes and street food have established themselves as in-demand and financially sustainable in small towns," commented Konstantin Palivoda, Deputy Director of the NGO "Vyksa City Development Agency."
According to him, residents’ opinions will be considered when making decisions about the project’s development. Early next year, agency specialists will summarize the results, gather feedback from entrepreneurs and residents, and adjust the format and menu if necessary.
It is worth noting that the food truck format is actively developing in large cities, such as Nizhny Novgorod, where since 2018 it has become a noticeable part of the gastronomic scene. Currently, small towns like Volzhsky, Kumertau, and Stary Oskol are also showing interest in mobile street cuisine.
