Officers from the criminal investigation department of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia for the Nizhny Novgorod region, jointly with the regional FSB office, have dismantled a group suspected of kidnapping.
According to law enforcement, in late May 2025, four previously convicted and officially unemployed men, acting in coordination with other individuals whose identities are currently being established, clashed with a 41-year-old resident of Nizhny Novgorod.
The suspects demanded 2.3 million rubles from the man. After he refused, they used physical force, forcibly put him into a car, and took him to one of the apartments, where he was held against his will for a day.
A criminal case has been initiated by the Investigation Department of the Investigative Committee of Russia for the Nizhny Novgorod region under Part 2, Article 126, Clause "a" of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation — "Kidnapping committed by a group of persons by prior conspiracy."
All four suspects are in custody. Investigative actions are ongoing.
Earlier, reports indicated the detention of a gang that robbed a participant of the special military operation in the Nizhny Novgorod region.
