The State Duma explained the new bill on divorces involving families with children
August 5, 2025, 17:28 [131] Society A bill has been submitted to the State Duma aimed at improving the system of child upbringing after parental divorce. The author of the initiative, Deputy Dmitry Kuznetsov, discussed it with the "360" television channel. Kuznetsov noted that the problem of divorces is particularly acute in modern society. As a result, many children are left without support from both fathers and their grandparents. This creates additional burden on mothers, who are forced to care for their children alone and ensure their well-being. According to the deputy, in most cases, children stay with their mothers, and fathers often become "weekend" visitors or withdraw entirely from parenting. This leads to mothers, in their efforts to protect their children, speaking negatively about the fathers, which in turn causes psychological trauma to the child. Kuznetsov believes that existing legislation contributes to escalating conflicts between former spouses over custody rights. The proposed bill aims to give responsible fathers more opportunities to participate in raising their children. In the author's view, this will help create more favorable conditions for the harmonious development of children and strengthen family relationships. NIA "Nizhny Novgorod" has a Telegram channel.
