Active efforts to prevent fires continue in Nizhny Novgorod.

The second class of fire hazard for forests and peatlands is partially established in Nizhny Novgorod, according to the Municipal Budgetary Institution "Management of Civil Defense, Emergency Situations, and Fire Safety of Nizhny Novgorod."

The management reports that active work to prevent fires is ongoing in Nizhny Novgorod. Based on the mayor's decree Yuri Shalabaev, joint patrols of forest areas are organized by district administrations, local forestry offices, district traffic police, and fire supervision departments of the Ministry of Emergency Situations (EMERCOM).

According to Nizhny Novgorod Forest Management, daily patrols to prevent violations of fire safety regimes have become an integral part of the forestry work: patrols are conducted jointly with EMERCOM personnel, district administration staff, and police. During these patrols, specialists talk with citizens, distribute informational leaflets, and explain the main causes of fires.

"Ground monitoring is conducted daily along nine approved routes covering nearly 440 km of urban forests, with conversations held among local residents and distribution of warning leaflets. Additionally, remote monitoring of forest fires is performed daily using video cameras across the entire territory of city forests," said city forest workers.

The City Emergency Situations Department notes that the number of offenders decreases each year. Since the introduction of the fire hazard regime in 2025, staff have issued 8,999 informational leaflets and 8,804 flyers, held 193 meetings and 4,708 conversations with the public.

      Note:

Since April 11, 2025, a special fire safety regime has been in effect in the Nizhny Novgorod region. It was established by the government decree No. 230 dated April 1, 2025.

The Main Directorate of EMERCOM of Russia for Nizhny Novgorod urges everyone to remain extremely cautious during the fire-dangerous period and to follow all fire safety rules.

In case of information about high or extreme fire risk for forests and peatlands, visitations are prohibited.

Do not burn trash in vegetable gardens or summer houses. Do not burn garbage near forests and forest plantings. Do not light campfires in forests. Do not smoke, throw burning matches, cigarette butts, or shake hot ash from pipes. Do not leave greasy or gasoline- and kerosene-soaked cloths in the forest. Do not leave bottles, glass fragments, or other trash in sunlit forest clearing.

If you discover a natural fire, be attentive and cautious, and immedately call the fire services.

It is recommended to use the mobile app "EMERCOM of Russia" for timely receiving urgent information about forecasted dangerous and adverse weather phenomena and emergency situations via the Internet.

Reminder: violations of fire safety regulations entail administrative and criminal liability for citizens.
