      The creation of a new general plan for Nizhny Novgorod will begin in 2027. As noted by Darya Shunaeva, Minister of Urban Development and Agglomeration Development of the Nizhny Novgorod Region, in an interview with TASS, approval of the document is scheduled for 2030.

      According to her, serious preparations are necessary before the main design phase. Primarily, this involves collecting and analyzing current data, as well as reviewing previously made amendments.

      Shunaeva emphasized that Nizhny Novgorod is a complex territorial structure both geographically and organizationally. After the merger with the Kstovo district in 2025, the scope of tasks has only increased. Now it is necessary to rethink the development of the entire merged territory.

      Kstovo district, which became part of Nizhny Novgorod, is now officially called Kstovo District. It and its rural settlements recently approved their own master plans, and, as the minister stressed, they will maintain legal force and be taken into account when developing new comprehensive systemic documents.

      The current master plan of Nizhny Novgorod was approved back in 2010. During this time, the city has undergone significant changes, and as Shunaeva explained, almost every investment project now requires adjustments to the old document. She noted that the development of the city in 2010 and 2025 are two entirely different realities.

      It was previously reported that 21 residential buildings will be demolished under the KRT project in the area of Respublikanskaya, Panina, Poltavskaya streets and Vysokovsky Passage in Nizhny Novgorod.
