Uren and Shakhunya took over the regional marathon relay "We are for a healthy lifestyle!"

      Residents of Urensky and Shakhunsky districts joined the regional healthy lifestyle marathon "We Support a Healthy Lifestyle!" over the past weekend. About two thousand people participated in the events, confirming many citizens' interest in obtaining objective information about their health parameters. This was reported by the regional Ministry of Health.

      "We Support a Healthy Lifestyle!" is a large-scale project that launched in Nizhny Novgorod on April 6, ahead of World Health Day, and is expanding its reach, attracting more participants. Urensky and Shakhunsky became the 12th and 13th towns to hold events as part of the marathon.

      The event format ensures accessibility to medical assistance for the widest possible audience. On mobile medical units, participants could undergo tests on the spot without visiting medical facilities. Qualified specialists from various fields provided medical consultations at the "Health Tents." Here, therapies, neurology, and endocrinology professionals—highly qualified staff from local district hospitals—offered answers and support, as well as dermatologists from the Nizhny Novgorod Regional Dermatovenerologic Dispensary. In the "CardioMobile," over 40 individuals underwent electrocardiographic examinations and received recommendations from an experienced cardiologist.

      In addition to consultations, medics conducted a broad range of tests: blood pressure measurement, fundus examination, blood sugar and cholesterol analysis, anthropometric measurements, and body mass index calculation. This comprehensive approach allows everyone to receive an objective picture of their health status. Approximately 500 tests were conducted in total.

      Furthermore, participants received valuable knowledge about the key principles of a healthy lifestyle throughout the day. They actively engaged in dance flash mobs, collective exercises, sports master classes led by experienced fitness instructors, and had the opportunity to test their strength in GTO standards. Various artistic groups performed on stage for guests.

      "The great interest in the 'We Support a Healthy Lifestyle!' marathon in Urena and Shakhunya confirms the importance of such initiatives that promote a healthier population and improve the quality of life in the region. Planning and conducting such large-scale events require significant effort and coordination with various medical institutions, but the results fully justify the resources spent and demonstrate the demand for such activities," said Natalya Savitskaya, chief physician of the Nizhny Novgorod Regional Center for Public Health and Medical Prevention.

      The Regional marathon "We Support a Healthy Lifestyle!" helps promote adherence to healthy habits among Nizhny Novgorod residents, aligning with the goals and objectives of the new national project "Long and Active Life."

      The "Long and Active Life" national project has been implemented nationwide since 2025 under the instruction of Russian President Vladimir Putin. It builds on the tasks previously outlined in the "Healthcare" national project. The new project aims to increase life expectancy by 2030 and includes renovating outpatient clinics, polyclinics, feldsher-midwife stations, attracting more qualified medical personnel, adopting new approaches in prevention, diagnostics, and treatment of chronic diseases, improving emergency medical services and rehabilitation systems, developing a network of national research centers, and digitalizing the industry.

      The national project encompasses 11 federal initiatives: "Health for Everyone," "Primary Healthcare Modernization," "Medical Personnel," "Fighting Cardiovascular Diseases," "Fighting Oncological Diseases," "Fighting Diabetes," "Fighting Hepatitis and Minimizing Disease Spread Risks," "Improving Emergency Medical Services," "Development of Federal Medical Organizations, including the expansion of the national research centers network," "National Health Platform," and "Optimal Medical Rehabilitation for Recovery."
