      The economic indicators of the Nizhny Novgorod region demonstrated positive dynamics in 2024, said Governor Gleb Nikitin during his report to the Legislative Assembly. In 2024, the regional Industrial Development Fund was recapitalized by 500 million rubles, reaching 1.8 billion rubles. Preferential loans under federal and regional FRP programs were received by 55 enterprises in the Nizhny Novgorod region. The project financing volume amounted to 6.3 billion rubles, placing the region at the top in Russia for this indicator. The gross regional product of the Nizhny Novgorod region has been growing for the fifth consecutive year, increasing by 24% compared to 2020 levels. Positive dynamics are driven by enterprises focused on the military-industrial complex, import substitution, and high technologies. In 2023-2024, the region’s budget revenues from the implementation of comprehensive development projects through auctions amounted to about 1 billion rubles. Approximately 50 KRT sites are at various stages of development. Funding for major infrastructure projects in 2024 totaled nearly 24 billion rubles, and a total of 30 billion rubles is planned for the nationwide project “Infrastructure for Life” this year.

      The Nizhny Novgorod region is utilizing all opportunities of the new national project “Family” to reboot the demographic agenda. Governor Gleb Nikitin emphasized that in 2024, half of all social payments—about 30 billion rubles—were allocated to families with children. Since July 1, the “Primary Parent Allowance” program has been active in the region. 84% of recipients chose the regular monthly payments ranging from 10,000 to 30,000 rubles. The Primary Parent Allowance is available to all families regardless of need criteria.

      A regional Demographic and Family Policy Headquarters has been established in the Nizhny Novgorod region. This collegial advisory body will work on forming a unified state demographic and family policy, as well as developing and strengthening interdepartmental cooperation.

      Over 250 billion rubles have been allocated to the implementation of national projects in the Nizhny Novgorod region over six years. Governor Gleb Nikitin announced this during his report to the deputies of the Legislative Assembly. As a result of these projects, 33 schools, 45 kindergartens, 430 “Point of Growth” centers, eight IT Cubes, five Quantoriums, and four Sports Facilities have been opened, along with 44 sports grounds. The share of citizens regularly engaged in physical activity reached 60%.

      In six years, nearly 400 healthcare facilities have been renovated, more than 2,800 pieces of equipment purchased, and the vehicle fleet has expanded by 848 cars. A comprehensive set of measures has been developed under the new national project “Active and Long Life.” About 82%, or 5.3 billion rubles, of the funding in 2025 will continue the modernization of primary healthcare, including the installation of modular FAPs. Under the national project “Safe and High-Quality Roads,” nearly 6,000 kilometers of roads have been repaired; under “Housing and Urban Environment,” 17,000 people have been relocated from emergency housing; and four hazardous landfills have been eliminated as part of the “Ecology” project.

      The labor market of the Nizhny Novgorod region is rich in job offers, Governor Gleb Nikitin reported. As of July 1, nearly 130,000 vacancies were announced, with the unemployment rate maintained at 0.01%. The region is attractive to specialists from other regions and abroad. According to the voluntary resettlement program, 368 compatriots arrived in the region in 2024.

      In the first half of 2025, 673 relocation and support applications from foreign citizens were received. Around 200 foreign specialists from Sri Lanka and Uzbekistan have been employed at six Nizhny Novgorod companies through the Oka staffing agency.

      The number of publicly accessible Wi-Fi hotspots in the Nizhny Novgorod region is planned to increase, including through extrabudgetary funding, said Governor Gleb Nikitin. Businesses are encouraged to provide Wi-Fi with simplified connection procedures at all retail outlets. The regional authorities asked residents and visitors to understand occasional internet disruptions related to drone attacks on industrial facilities.

      The best rural village elders have been selected in the Nizhny Novgorod region. The competition “Best Elder of a Rural Community of the Nizhny Novgorod Region” was held at the initiative of the Chairman of the Council of Municipal Formations of the Nizhny Novgorod Region, Mayor of Arzamas Alexander Shchelokov. Thirty initiatives by rural elders focused on improving their local communities’ territory were chosen for implementation with the support of the regional governor. Vasily Vasilyevich Otlaykin, the elder of Okhotino village in the Bor district, took first place.

      On August 1, the day of Saint Seraphim of Sarov, Governor Gleb Nikitin met with participants of the V Interregional Orthodox Youth Forum “My Joy” in Diveevo village, Nizhny Novgorod region. The governor highlighted the cooperation between the Nizhny Novgorod Metropolitanate and the regional government. He also noted that for the first time this year, the forum featured a grant contest #RoshmolyodGorants. The winners received from 80,000 to 1.5 million rubles for project implementation.
