Chairman of the Investigative Committee of Russia, Alexander Bastrykin, instructed to prepare a report on the investigation of a criminal case related to the death of a two-year-old child in Nizhny Novgorod.

Information about the tragedy that occurred in 2023 has again drawn public attention after media reports. According to the mother of the deceased boy, a forensic examination revealed a direct link between the actions of the doctor who made a diagnostic error and her son’s death.

The Investigative Department of the Russian Investigative Committee for the Nizhny Novgorod region previously initiated a criminal case under Article 109 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (causing death by negligence). The materials were forwarded to court, but proceedings were terminated due to the expiration of the statute of limitations.

Bastrykin ordered the head of the Nizhny Novgorod department, Airat Akhmetshin, to prepare a detailed report on the progress and results of the investigation, as well as to evaluate the arguments presented in the publications.

It was previously reported that the death of a municipal worker in the Sechenovsky district of Nizhny Novgorod region led to a criminal case.

It is also recalled that Bastrykin personally took control of the case involving emergency housing in Nizhny Novgorod.
