By order of the Plenipotentiary Representative of the President of the Russian Federation in the Ural Federal District, Artyom Zhogha, his deputy Sergey Ryndin took part in a joint meeting of the State Council commissions on "International Cooperation and Export" and "Northern Sea Route and Arctic."

The event was held as part of the III Forum "Arctic – Regions," which takes place in Arkhangelsk, and was dedicated to the development of port infrastructure in the Russian Arctic to ensure the operation of the Trans-Arctic Transport Corridor and increase the export potential of the regions.

Participants in the meeting included Russian Minister for Development of the Far East and the Arctic Alexey Chekunkov, Governor of Arkhangelsk Oblast Alexander Tsybulskiy, Governor of Murmansk Oblast Andrey Chibis, Rosatom’s Special Representative for Arctic Development Vladimir Panov, State Secretary – Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade of Russia Roman Chekushov, Deputy Minister of Transport of Russia Alexander Poshivay, and other experts.

The participants emphasized the importance of the Trans-Arctic Transport Corridor, which incorporates a system of interaction between maritime, rail, inland waterway, pipeline, automobile, and air transport. The key task in this area is to create a transportation system aligned with freight volumes considering routes and seasonality.

The implementation of the Trans-Arctic Transport Corridor project aims to achieve the national goal set by President Vladimir Putin to increase non-resource non-energy exports and will enhance Russia’s potential as a key player in the Arctic.

The parties highlighted the necessity of a comprehensive approach to the sustainable development of the entire transportation system in the Russian Arctic zone, including construction and modernization of port and supply infrastructure, ice-class fleet, creation of new industrial sites, and development of export routes with partner countries.
