The deaths of two teenagers in the Nizhny Novgorod water bodies resulted in criminal cases.

      Incidents and criminal cases opened due to the deaths of two teenagers in the Nizhny Novgorod water bodies on July 31, reported by the Investigative Committee of Russia for the region.

      It is recalled that in Voznesenskoye settlement, a 16-year-old boy drowned after rushing to help his 17-year-old friend who was drowning. In Vyksa, a 13-year-old teenager drowned (initially, the Ministry of Emergency Situations reported he was 14).

      Investigations are being conducted under Part 1 of Article 109 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation — causing death by negligence. Investigators are carrying out a series of activities to establish the circumstances of the incident. The investigation is under the supervision of the prosecutor’s office.

      A parallel prosecutor’s check is also underway to assess the enforcement of legislation on the prevention of truancy and juvenile misconduct. Law enforcement agencies will take measures if there are grounds to do so.
