The Federal Service for Supervision of Natural Resources (Rosprirodnadzor) demands that the Balakhna utility company fully eliminate environmental violations and cease discharging insufficiently treated wastewater into the Volga.

      The court once again upheld the position of the Interregional Department of Rosprirodnadzor for the Nizhny Novgorod Region and the Republic of Mordovia, which is demanding that the Balakhna municipal enterprise LLC "Biotechservis" fully eliminate violations of environmental legislation. This legal entity has been repeatedly subject to administrative penalties. Following a scheduled inspection in 2023, an order was issued requiring the mandatory rectification of all identified violations. LLC "Biotechservis" unsuccessfully attempted to annul it. Then, the Nizhny Novgorod Arbitration Court supported the oversight authority's position. However, most of the violations had not been corrected. This was confirmed by an unscheduled inspection of the enterprise in 2024. It was established that LLC "Biotechservis" continues to systematically violate environmental requirements. The pollutant levels in the wastewater discharged into the Volga River still exceed established standards. The enterprise's effluents negatively impact the water body. The legal entity was held accountable, and a new order was issued to rectify the violations. Its representatives also tried to overturn it. But the court again confirmed the legality of the Rosprirodnadzor inspectors' demands. LLC "Biotechservis" is required to take measures and bring its activities into compliance with legal requirements. The court decision has entered into legal force. The issue remains under special control of the Department. Additionally, Rosprirodnadzor specialists have calculated the damage caused by the enterprise's activities to the Volga River, amounting to over 5.9 million rubles. The violator has voluntarily reimbursed 1 million rubles. The recovery of the remaining amount is currently being pursued through legal proceedings.
