The Investigative Committee is determining the causes of the death of an 8-year-old child in the Nizhny Novgorod region.

      Investigations and prosecutors are conducting checks into the death of an 8-year-old child in the Voznesensky district, the press offices of both agencies reported.

      The tragedy occurred today, July 30, in the village of Alamasovo. According to the Ministry of Emergency Situations, the boy was near a pond with his mother. When she was momentarily distracted, the child entered the water and drowned.

      Investigators examined the victim's body and found no injuries indicating foul play. The exact cause of death will be determined after the forensic examination.

      The Investigative Committee clarified that the place where the family was resting is not equipped for swimming. Agency staff are establishing the circumstances of the incident. A procedural decision will be made based on the findings.

      Prosecutors are also examining the incident. They will verify the enforcement of legislation related to prevention of neglect and juvenile delinquency. Response measures will be taken if justified.

      It was reported that the administration of the "Yantar" recreational base has publicly commented on the death of a 14-year-old teenager. Previously, investigators initiated a criminal case.
