Culture and Leisure At the Strelka in Nizhny Novgorod, a new art installation has appeared—a large letter "A" that is part of the cultural project "City Alphabet." The installation was initiated by the Urban Environment Development Institute.

According to the creators of the idea, the letter "A" refers to several meanings at once. First and foremost, it references Alexander Nevsky, after whom the nearby cathedral is named.

Visually, the object is decorated with iconic symbols of Nizhny Novgorod: an image of a deer, elements of the coat of arms, and floral motifs. This approach emphasizes the connection between the letter and the city's identity.

"In ancient times, 'az' meant 'beginning' or the pronoun 'I.' There is an inscription on Peter I's ring: 'azъ есмь в чину учимых и учащих мя требую'—which means 'I am learning and seeking teachers for myself.' Additionally, this letter represented the number one," the IRGSNO Telegram channel explained.

Earlier, ten more letters of the Slavic alphabet appeared in the region.
