An investigation has been initiated in the Voznesensky district into the death of a child at the water body.

      An investigator from the Investigative Department of the closed administrative-territorial entity of Sarov city of the Investigative Directorate of the Investigative Committee of Russia for the Nizhny Novgorod region has initiated a pre-investigation check into the death of an 8-year-old child at a water body. Preliminary data indicate that today the child's body was retrieved from a water body located in the village of Alamasovo, Voznesensky District. During inspection, investigators from the Investigative Committee of Russia did not find any visible bodily injuries of a criminal nature. A forensic medical examination has been scheduled to establish the cause of death. The place where the child drowned was not equipped for bathing. Currently, investigators are establishing all circumstances of the incident. A procedural decision will be made based on the results of the check. The Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee of Russia for the Nizhny Novgorod region reiterates the importance of following basic water safety rules and measures. It is prohibited for children unsupervised to: - go into water bodies; - stand on steep banks; - gather on bridges, dams, and sluices; - measure the depth of the river or any water body. Water safety rules include: - swimming while intoxicated is strictly prohibited; - swimming should only occur in designated areas, at well-maintained beaches; - do not swim near steep banks with strong currents, in marshy and overgrown areas, or dive in unfamiliar places; - alternate between time in the water and on land, it is recommended to stay in the water for 15-20 minutes to prevent cramps, breathing cessation, and loss of consciousness; - do not enter or jump into the water after prolonged sun exposure, as cooling can cause muscle contractions leading to cardiac arrest; - do not swim far from the shore on inflatable mattresses and rings, especially if you cannot swim.
