Society The Committee for Commemorating Outstanding Personalities and Historical Events in Nizhny Novgorod has postponed the consideration of the installation of a monument to Joseph Stalin. This was reported by the city duma's press service.

It is specified that the discussion has been delayed due to the need for additional consultations. In addition to the initiative regarding the Stalin monument, the committee has also postponed the consideration of the proposal to commemorate physicist Andrey Gaponov-Grekhov. Both topics are planned to be addressed at subsequent meetings.

Let us remind you that in March 2025, the regional branch of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation submitted a proposal to install a monument to Stalin to the city authorities. It was reported that the monument was intended to be placed in Stalingrad Square at the intersection of Nartova and Beketova streets.

In April, the issue was already discussed at a committee meeting, when it was decided to revisit the detailed discussion in June. However, the meeting was ultimately held only in July.

It is also worth noting that in 2020, a monument to Stalin was unveiled on Bor in the Nizhny Novgorod region. Construction of the Stalin Center is also ongoing there.
