FSB detained the head of the traffic police in Lyskov — video

      FSB and regional Ministry of Internal Affairs officers prevented the unlawful activities of the head of the traffic police department in the Lyskovsky district. According to the FSB press service, the police officer is accused of exceeding official authority motivated by personal interest.

      It was established that the head of the GIBDD department, Vladimir Marakulin, facilitated the avoidance of responsibility by representatives of national communities who broke traffic rules.

      The Investigative Committee clarified that in July of this year, a minor—Marakulin's acquaintance's nephew—was driving a car on the streets of Lyskov without the right to do so. Police officers tried to stop the violator, but the local traffic police chief, on a shift, intervened and prevented them from carrying out their duties.

      A criminal case has been initiated under Part 3 of Article 286 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation. The suspect is currently under house arrest. Law enforcement officers continue investigative activities and are establishing possible accomplices.

      The police press service reported that the Lyskovsky GAI chief has been suspended from duty. An investigation is underway. If proven guilty, he will be fired from the internal affairs agencies for negative reasons.
