Nizhny Novgorod Metropolitan George has begun baptizing infants again.

Addressing the parishioners, Bishop Georgiy emphasized the importance of the event and highlighted the spiritual responsibility undertaken by the godparents. "With great joy, today I perform the sacrament of baptism. Now, six little Christians have an angel guardian. Congratulations to the godparents — you have made a vow before God to care for your godchildren. Childbirth is one of the most important events in a person's life. I thank the parents for your hard work and hope that your families will always be filled with peace, joy, and prosperity," said the metropolitan. The initiative to hold collective baptisms for third and subsequent children in large families was proposed by Bishop Georgiy back in 2016. Since then, it has received widespread support among residents of Nizhny Novgorod and has become an important part of the region's spiritual life. According to Evgeny Zhuravlev, director of the ANO "Institute of Demographic Development," participation in such events contributes to strengthening traditional family values and demographic development of the region. He emphasized that collaboration with the diocese creates an environment where children grow up in love and care. At the end of the service, Metropolitan Georgiy congratulated the families on this significant event, presented baptism certificates, icons of the guardian angel, and Christian children's literature from the Nizhny Novgorod diocese. Additionally, each infant received memorable gifts from the governor of the Nizhny Novgorod region — silver spoons, decorative plates depicting regional landmarks, and collections of fairy tales. Families also received branded bags from the ANO "Institute of Demographic Development," designed according to the concept of the "Nizhny Novgorod BASE" project. Earlier, it was reported that Gleb Nikitin, governor of the Nizhny Novgorod region, signed an order establishing a regional headquarters for demographic and family policy.
