      Society - The meeting of the Social Issues Committee of the Legislative Assembly took place on July 23. During the meeting, deputies discussed the initiative of the Chairman of the Legislative Assembly of the Nizhny Novgorod Region, Evgeny Lyulin, regarding the establishment of a new regional award – the Honorary Badge “Honored Donor of the Nizhny Novgorod Region.”

      According to the initiative, no more than 40 people will be awarded the badge annually. The award may be given to Russian citizens residing in the region who have voluntarily donated blood, its components, or plasma at government clinics affiliated with the regional health department, which carry out blood donation activities.

      The number of donations ranges from 80 to 120 times or more, depending on what is donated: blood, its components, or plasma.

      “It is important for our fellow countrymen to see, know, and be proud of those who are willing to selflessly give to others. I am proud that, according to the Klimova Blood Center, the number of such people in the Nizhny Novgorod Region is increasing every year,” said Evgeny Lyulin.

      The final decision on establishing the Honorary Badge is planned to be made at the upcoming session of the Legislative Assembly of the Nizhny Novgorod Region, which will be held on July 31, 2025.

      “Every donation of blood or its components is a real act of saving a life. Hundreds of people need blood daily. It is required in many hospitals and maternity homes. I believe this award will positively influence the development of blood donation in the region,” said Natalia Smotrakova, Chairwoman of the Regional Parliament's Committee on Social Issues.
