Society Most working residents of the Nizhny Novgorod region regularly face emotional burnout and stress at work. This is stated in a study by the hh.ru service.

Thus, 75% of respondents in the region report signs of burnout — one of the highest rates in the country. The second most common issue is stress and anxiety related to work tasks, affecting 63% of respondents.

Significant burdens are also caused by numerous work chats (49%) and information overload (48%). Frequent overtime and the lack of a work-life balance concern 46% of those surveyed. Additionally, 44% expressed the need to stay connected outside of working hours, and 38% cited an excessive volume of tasks. Only 9% of respondents reported not experiencing such difficulties.

Women more often than men note emotional burnout (69% vs. 63%) and stress (63% vs. 56%). At the same time, men more frequently face overtime (46% vs. 43%) and the need to remain connected after working hours (45% vs. 44%).

The most vulnerable are employees aged 25 to 34. In this age group, 72% experience burnout, and 67% report stress. Young professionals aged 18 to 24 more often complain about the lack of work-life balance — 48%.

Among professional sectors, the highest levels of burnout are recorded among workers in tourism, hospitality, and restaurant businesses — 88%. High rates are also seen among specialists in investment, consulting (79%), and media (73%). Retail workers suffer more than others from the lack of balance between work and personal life — 70%. Management-level employees are particularly prone to overtime (56%) and the need to stay connected outside the office (55%).

As emphasized by Maria Buzunova, head of the hh.ru press service at the North-West Center, the survey results indicate serious mental health issues among a large number of employees. The situation is especially concerning among young specialists and workers in the service, consulting, and media sectors.

According to her, employers should pay attention to the need for implementing psychological well-being support programs and revising corporate practices that contribute to burnout.
