Nizhny Novgorod Region leads Russia in childbirth payments.

      Society The Nizhny Novgorod Region ranked first in Russia for the level of financial support for families when children are born. The region offers record amounts for the first, second, and third children, significantly surpassing other regions of the country. This is stated in an analysis of data from the Non-Profit Organization "Demographic Development Institute" conducted by URA.RU.

      It is emphasized that maternal capital for the birth of a child is available nationwide, but the amount of additional support varies significantly across regions: some families receive only 25,000 rubles, while in other regions the sum can reach one million.

      In the Nizhny Novgorod Region, 360,000 rubles are paid for the birth of the first child. This is the highest amount among all 15 regions where payments for the first child are provided. By comparison, the minimum support in other regions ranges from 25,000 to 45,000 rubles. On average, regions pay about 80,000 rubles. In five regions, the payout ranges from 150,000 to 212,000 rubles.

      The highest payments for the birth of a second child are also in the Nizhny Novgorod Region, where families receive up to 800,000 rubles. In most other regions—21 in total—such support falls within 150,000 to 250,000 rubles, with some regions not reaching even 50,000.

      Nizhny Novgorod also leads in the amount of material assistance for the birth of a third child (1 million rubles), the largest payment in Russia. The nearest figures are in Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Okrug (500,000 rubles) and Yakutia (about 433,000 rubles). In total, 55 regions offer one-time payments to families when a third child is born. The average amount is up to 175,000 rubles, with a minimum of 50,000 rubles.

      "Thus, in 2025, the difference between the minimum and maximum payments for a third child across Russian regions reaches 950,000 rubles," the publication notes.

      It is worth recalling that 2025–2030 has been declared the Family Five-Year by the decision of Governor Gleb Nikitin in the Nizhny Novgorod Region. An unprecedented package of support measures has been developed as part of the program. The main financial measure is aimed at supporting families with children. Combined with federal maternity capital, the amount per child can reach 1 million rubles. For the birth of the third and subsequent children, funds are fully provided from the regional budget.

      Starting July 1, parents will also receive the "Gift for the Newborn" — an electronic certificate for 20,000 rubles from the governor, which can be used to purchase goods from Nizhny Novgorod manufacturers.
