Road workers are preparing for heavy rain, which resulted in up to 84% of the monthly rainfall norm being recorded today in the Moscow region.

      The Nizhny Novgorod Department of Transport and Road Economy noted that they are monitoring the meteorological situation in nearby regions and responding quickly to weather changes occurring in Nizhny Novgorod. “Like in the capital, it is raining all day in our city, but less intensely. Water pumping equipment has been working in the city districts since morning to eliminate flooding; crews are clearing storm drains of debris and leaves washed in by the water. Tomorrow, there is a possibility that a stronger thunderstorm front will come from Moscow, so we are keeping a close watch – work will be organized around the clock,” said the department.

      The civil defense and emergency management employees of Nizhny Novgorod remind residents to refrain from staying outdoors during bad weather and not to shelter under trees from the rain. Drivers are advised to reduce speed, maintain distance, and not park near trees.
