      Over the past week, scammers managed to steal more than 54 million rubles from residents of the Nizhny Novgorod region through various methods. This was reported by the press service of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia for the region.

      In total, police registered 76 crimes. The most common scheme used by scammers was the "Call from the bank security service" - 76 cases. Scammers also often deceive during online purchases – 13 reports. Another common trick is offering additional earnings (seven cases).

      Residents of Nizhny Novgorod are reminded not to disclose their card details and SMS codes to third parties under any circumstances. If the interlocutor requests such information, it may be a scammer. When shopping online, it is recommended to verify the seller and read reviews about them, and avoid full prepayment – it is better to opt for payment upon receipt if possible.
