559 apartments will be provided to Nizhny Novgorod residents from emergency housing in three new buildings under construction in the Autzavodsky, Prioksky, and Sormovsky districts.
The houses are at different stages of readiness and are scheduled for commissioning at the end of this year or the beginning of next year.
Ninety-nine residents of Nizhny Novgorod will receive apartments from the emergency housing fund in three new municipal buildings under construction in the Avtozavodsky, Prigorodny, and Sormovsky districts.
Mayor Yuri Shalabaev visited the construction site on Zaytseva Street, checking the progress of a 10-storey building.
The mayor emphasized that the construction of municipal houses is a continuation of the practice revived by the city administration to build such housing for resettlement.
The first such buildings in 2023 included three houses in the Avtozavodsky district.
According to Sergei Razzhivin, director of GlavUKS Nizhny Novgorod, the contractor uses modern technologies and materials that enable high-quality work to be completed quickly.
"One of the advanced technologies used today is: the facade is made entirely from mineral wool sheets without synthetic materials. This ensures effective thermal insulation and soundproofing," Razzhivin explained.
In the under-construction building on Zaytseva Street in Sormovsky district, the monolithic reinforced concrete frame has already been erected, and the external and internal wall masonry is nearly complete.
During the inspection, Mayor Yuri Shalabaev examined apartments, including those where plastering work has already begun.
"Internal communications are now being installed, windows are being fitted, roofing and finishing works have started. The 10-storey building is designed for 189 apartments: one-bedroom, two-bedroom, and three-bedroom units. The total area is 13,000 square meters, with 8,000 square meters being living space," added Razzhivin.
Yuri Shalabaev stressed that the new buildings are constructed according to the "move-in and live" principle: apartments will be handed over with wallpapers, suspended ceilings, flooring, as well as electric stoves and metal doors for each unit.
"The work is progressing well. Besides the building in Sormovo, two more municipal houses are currently under construction in the Avtozavodsky and Prioksky districts.
All of them are at different stages of readiness and are planned to be completed by the end of this year or the beginning of next year.
Nizhny Novgorod residents from the emergency housing fund will receive ready-to-live apartments with finishes matching their previous living area, or even slightly larger.
A total of 559 apartments will be available in the three buildings," emphasized the city head, noting that this is already the second phase of the resettlement program.
"The first phase was completed in 2024, when nearly 55,000 square meters of emergency housing was resettled.
In the future, we plan to continue implementing the program."
City Duma deputies in Nizhny Novgorod are closely monitoring the construction of municipal housing.
"It is gratifying that the city administration has adopted this long-forgotten practice of municipal construction.
Resettling residents into apartments built from scratch is more cost-effective for the budget than purchasing ready-made housing for this purpose.
This not only saves public funds but also ensures high quality of work, since the municipality itself oversees the process," said First Deputy Chairman of the City Duma Evgeny Kostin.
"The implementation of the municipal housing construction program not only helps meet national project targets to reduce the share of emergency housing but, most importantly, allows residents to move into modern housing faster.
Each new building is not just about square meters, but a chance for families to improve their living conditions," emphasized Mikhail Ivanov, Chairman of the City Duma’s Permanent Commission for City Development, Construction, and Architecture.
As previously reported, from 2019 to 2023, nearly 55,000 square meters of emergency housing have been included in the resettlement program, resulting in 4,500 residents of Nizhny Novgorod improving their living conditions.
In 2023, two houses were built under the municipal contract for resettling residents—on 40 Let VLKSM Street, 33a, and Druzhayeva Street.
Another house at 31a Hero Vasilyev Street was constructed to evacuate residents from an emergency building located at 17a Krasnodonskaya Street.
