Fatal car-sharing accident on Lenin Avenue led to a criminal case.

      A criminal case has been initiated in the Leninsky district of Nizhny Novgorod regarding a fatal traffic accident involving a car from a car-sharing service. This was reported by the press service of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia for the Nizhny Novgorod region.

      Recall that the accident occurred on the morning of July 20 around 10:09 on Lenin Avenue. According to preliminary information, a 27-year-old resident of the Ivanovo region, driving a rented Chery Tiggo vehicle, drove into oncoming traffic. The car then swerved onto the sidewalk, where two pedestrians were present at that moment.

      One of the passersby managed to jump back in time, but the other man sustained severe injuries incompatible with life and died at the scene.

      After hitting the pedestrian, the car continued moving, ran into a tree, and then collided with the wall of a residential building.

      Medical examination showed that the driver was under the influence of alcohol.

      At the request of the investigation, the court chose a preventive measure in the form of detention for two months. An investigation is ongoing.

      It was previously reported that a foreign car crashed into a bus stop on Beketova Street in Nizhny Novgorod, resulting in two fatalities.
