Incidents The Investigative Committee of Russia for the Nizhny Novgorod Region has initiated a criminal case related to violations of environmental regulations during production activities. The department reported this.
The basis was a discovered violation under the article concerning violations of environmental protection rules during work execution.
According to investigators, from March 2024 to June 2025, the executive director of a sugar manufacturing enterprise located in the city of Sergach committed gross violations of environmental legislation.
Specifically, the manager organized the transportation of production waste to a site designated for agricultural use. This led to the covering of the fertile layer and deterioration of soil quality, which is considered land degradation.
Investigative actions are currently ongoing to establish all details of the incident.
It was previously reported that the Nizhny Novgorod region will allocate 2.6 billion rubles for waste management.
