      89-year-old resident of Nizhny Novgorod Region spent three days in the woods of the Ardatsky district after going there for strawberries and getting lost. The elderly man did not inform his relatives about his trip, according to the Nizhny Novgorod Search and Rescue Center "Rys".

      The pensioner left early Saturday morning by bus to a forest dozens of kilometers from home. According to relatives, he often visited these places, but this time he did not return the same day. He did not make contact, and on Sunday, July 20, a missing person report was filed.

      The search operation began that same evening. Volunteers from squads in Sarov and Vyksa joined the effort. Despite one team having just completed a previous operation and not having slept for over a day, the volunteers decided to urgently proceed with a new mission.

      The situation was complicated by the lack of mobile internet in the area, which hampered gathering evidence and disseminating maps. Relatives specified certain strawberry patches, while local residents identified others.

      The grandfather spent three nights in the Ardatsky forests. He was caught in the rain, heard wild animal sounds, but continued searching for a way out. Despite his age and fatigue, on the fourth day, the pensioner independently emerged and was found by people. By Tuesday evening, police informed the volunteers that the missing person had been located alive.

      "The grandfather promised not to go on adventures alone again," noted representatives of the search team.

      It was previously reported that 141 people went missing in June in the Nizhny Novgorod Region.
