Society About 150 million rubles have been allocated over six years for the modernization of the Bolshemurashkinskaya Central District Hospital. Of these, 120 million rubles were spent on major repairs of the hospital building and utility facilities, and about 30 million on acquiring modern medical equipment.

As noted by the Deputy Governor of the Nizhny Novgorod Region, Andrey Checherin, during a working visit to the municipality, the hospital has been recognized as one of the best in the region in terms of material and technical provision.

He emphasized that the development of the medical institution will continue. Between 2025 and 2030, it is planned to carry out major renovations of the outpatient clinic and increase its capacity to 300 visits per shift. Funding for these works is provided within the framework of the new national project "Extended and Active Life."

Together with the deputy governor, the institution was visited by Tatiana Kovalenko, Deputy Minister of Health of the Nizhny Novgorod Region, and Vladimir Pakov, a deputy of the Legislative Assembly. The delegation inspected the renovated dining area and infectious disease department with individual "Meltzer" boxes, as well as laboratories for diagnostics, a children's consultation room, functional diagnostics, physiotherapy, and X-ray. A new machine was recently installed in the radiology department.

The guests paid special attention to the office where the interregional "School of Patients with Diabetes" operates. As Vera Makarova, Acting Chief Physician of the Central District Hospital, explained, about 800,000 rubles were allocated last year for its creation. She noted that in a specially equipped room, an endocrinologist conducts classes for both newly diagnosed patients and those who have been living with diabetes for a long time. Participants are taught the basics of proper nutrition, medication intake, and self-monitoring. In addition, with the support of volunteers from PIMU, free Nordic walking classes are organized for them, which are very popular.

Currently, residents not only from the Bolshemurashkinsky district but also from neighboring districts—Knyagininsky, Buturlinsky, and Pervozhsky—attend the "School of Patients with Diabetes." Since the beginning of the year, nearly 80 people have undergone training there. Such initiatives contribute to improving the quality of life for people with chronic diseases and increasing life expectancy.

Tatiana Kovalenko noted that the hospital actively conducts preventive work. Since the beginning of the year, more than 1,700 residents of the district have undergone medical examinations, and about 600 have received preventive check-ups. She also added that the staffing of the institution is almost fully completed: only the second surgeon and one district therapist out of five are needed.

The national project "Extended and Active Life" was launched in 2025 by order of President Vladimir Putin of Russia. It continues the objectives previously set within the framework of the "Healthcare" national project and aims to increase life expectancy by 2030. The project includes modernization of medical facilities, development of personnel potential, implementation of new approaches to treating chronic diseases, improvement of emergency care and rehabilitation, as well as the digitalization of healthcare.

It was previously reported that over 400 settlements in Nizhny Novgorod have been visited by "Health Trains" over six months.
