More than 20 healthcare workers have relocated to remote areas of the Nizhny Novgorod region since the beginning of summer under the state programs "Farmer Doctor" and "Farmer Paramedic." This was reported by the regional Ministry of Health.
The specialists signed employment contracts with state medical institutions for a period of five years. Doctors received one-time payments ranging from 1 to 1.5 million rubles, while healthcare workers with secondary education received from 500,000 to 750,000 rubles.
As clarified by Sergey Kolesnikov, the First Deputy Minister of Health of the Nizhny Novgorod region, more than 30 people have participated in the programs since the beginning of the year. Furthermore, federal funding allows for the employment of at least 70 more specialists under these initiatives.
According to Kolesnikov, a particularly active influx of applications is expected in the fall — after medical university and college graduates. Documents can be submitted through the personnel departments of the selected hospitals until the end of 2025. The main condition for participation is a commitment to work for at least five years in a government medical organization.
"Our region has been implementing this form of support for over 13 years, and we see that most participants remain in rural hospitals longer than the established period," Kolesnikov noted. "Many continue their professional development: some change their specialization within the institution, some enroll in residency programs targeted at this field, and others advance their careers to department heads or clinic managers."
The regional Ministry of Health emphasized that over a thousand specialists have participated in the programs since their inception. The initiative aims to address one of the key goals of the new national project "Prolonged and Active Life" — ensuring access to qualified medical assistance in rural areas.
It was previously reported that young doctors continue to arrive and work in rural settlements of the Nizhny Novgorod region thanks to the support programs "Farmer Doctor" and "Farmer Paramedic."
