AI will help Nizhny Novgorod residents complete biometrics faster through "Gosuslugi."

      The "Gosuslugi Biometry" mobile application now features an integrated intelligent assistant created using artificial intelligence technologies. This new functionality is aimed at simplifying and speeding up the online biometric registration process.

      During registration, the AI assistant analyzes the video stream from the user's camera in real time and provides recommendations to help correctly complete the procedure. For example, it advises if there is insufficient lighting in the frame, notices if there are outsiders nearby, helps position the face properly, and selects an appropriate angle for shooting. All these features significantly reduce errors and increase the chances of successful registration.

      According to Dmitry Grigorenko, Deputy Prime Minister and head of the Russian Government Apparatus, 14 new biometric-related services have been launched in the country over the past two years. The next step was the implementation of solutions that make registration as simple and quick as possible. The use of artificial intelligence has become an important part of this process.

      He also emphasized that biometric data collection is entirely voluntary. In all scenarios, it serves as an additional method for obtaining government and commercial services.

      At the Biometric Technologies Center (BTC), which is the operator of the Unified Biometric System (UBS), it was clarified that the AI assistant is a fully Russian development. Experts estimate that its use can accelerate the online registration process by 15–20%.

      Through the "Gosuslugi Biometry" app, users can remotely undergo both standard and simplified registration. Nearly 2 million people have already used this feature. Considering those who completed the process at authorized bank branches, the total number of registrations in the Unified Biometric System exceeds 6 million.
