      The drug situation in the Nizhny Novgorod region as of the first half of 2025 is characterized as neutral. This was reported by Dmitry Filatov, head of the UKON Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia for the Nizhny Novgorod region, at a press conference at NOIC on July 16, attended by a correspondent from NIA "Nizhny Novgorod".

      Since the beginning of the year, 2,388 drug-related crimes have been registered in the region, which is 34.3% more than in the same period last year. On average, law enforcement officers in Nizhny Novgorod oblast identify 13 such crimes daily.

      It has also become known that the number of organized drug dens has decreased by 44.4%.

      Of the 1,573 detected drug crimes, 1,201 are classified as serious and especially serious. Over the six months, Nizhny Novgorod police have dismantled 9 drug dens and shut down 13 organized criminal groups.

      The total amount of seized drugs is approximately 700 kilograms, almost three times more than last year.
