Society After the launch of the high-speed railway between Moscow and Saint Petersburg, Sapsan trains may start operating on other routes, including Nizhny Novgorod, reports RIA Novosti.

Currently, Sapsans run exclusively between Moscow and St. Petersburg. However, with the commissioning of the High-Speed Line (HSL), this rolling stock may be redistributed.

"Several high-speed directions are obvious. At present, we are considering several route options: Moscow – Minsk, Moscow – Nizhny Novgorod, Moscow – Voronezh. This rolling stock will not be left without work," said RZD Deputy Head Ivan Kolesnikov.

It was previously reported that passenger traffic from Nizhny Novgorod to Moscow increased by 1.5% in the first half of the year.
