Society. The State Duma approved new laws aimed at strengthening responsibility for desecration of military memorials and tightening requirements for media and advertising agencies regarding the publication of images of religious objects. This was announced by Vyacheslav Volodin, the speaker of the lower house of parliament, reported by the "360" television channel.

According to the adopted norms, desecration of graves and other monuments related to the memory of heroes who gave their lives for the Motherland entails a punishment of up to 5 years of imprisonment or a fine of up to 5 million rubles. Volodin emphasized that preserving historical memory is an important task for society.

The second law is aimed at protecting the religious feelings of citizens and strengthening interfaith dialogue. It requires media and advertising agencies to include images of sacred structures only with appropriate religious symbols in their materials. According to Volodin, this will help preserve respect for the traditions and beliefs of various confessions represented in the country.
