The State Duma proposed not to allow migrants with dangerous diseases into Russia.

      In Russia, additional restrictions and stricter requirements for migrant workers may be introduced. Among the proposed measures are restrictions on the entry of foreigners with serious illnesses. This was reported by Yaroslav Nilov, chairman of the State Duma committee on labor, social policy, and veterans' affairs, in an interview with the "360" channel.

      Nilov noted that there is a risk when a person has already entered the country but has not yet undergone medical screening. During this time, they may have contact with others, use public transportation, visit stores, and public places. Therefore, it is important to prevent the entry of those who could pose a danger to others.

      It is proposed that foreign citizens planning to work in Russia provide analysis results confirming the absence of HIV, hepatitis B and C, syphilis, and tuberculosis. The examination process should not exceed 10 days. Migrants could also be required to provide test results showing the absence of drugs and psychotropic substances in their bodies, conducted no earlier than 72 hours before entry into the country.

      Additionally, Nilov suggested strengthening control over the availability of voluntary health insurance (VHI) for foreigners. Although, by law, VHI is mandatory, it is often not verified at the border, and many migrants do not have such a policy. This could lead to Russian citizens and budget funds bearing the costs in case of emergency medical assistance.

      The deputy emphasized that these measures are necessary to ensure the safety and health of the Russian population, as well as to prevent financial expenses for the treatment of foreign citizens.
