Society 82% of residents of the Nizhny Novgorod region are willing to replace disposable plastic utensils with more eco-friendly alternatives. This is evidenced by survey data from the SuperJob service that explored Nizhny Novgorod residents' attitudes toward refusing plastic tableware.
The study was conducted from June 30 to July 2, 2025, among the economically active population. It notes that 42% of respondents stated they fully support such an initiative, while another 40% are rather willing to take this step. Women are more likely than men to support abandoning plastic, and among young people under 35, the proportion of supporters of an environmentally friendly approach reaches 87%.
Eighteen percent of respondents oppose the transition to alternative materials. Of these, 6% are strictly unwilling to give up plastic tableware, and another 12% are rather not ready. The main reasons are convenience and low cost: many believe plastic tableware is indispensable during travel or holidays.
