Russian banks are expanding their range of financial products for children.

September 1, 2026 13:16 EconomyVTB announced the launch of a children's bank for users aged 6 to 14. Children can independently pay for purchases, learn to save, and master the basics of financial literacy. The announcement about the launch within the framework of the WEF 2026 was made by the Deputy President - Chairman of the Bank's Management Board, Georgy Gorshkov.

The product is based on the principle "the bank grows with the child": the interface, available scenarios, and level of independence change as the user's age, interests, and skills change. The children's bank is designed for three age groups - 6-8, 9-12, and 13-14 years - and as a child transitions from one group to another, they gain access to more financial tools and rights.

"Money appreciates a responsible approach from an early age, and the children's bank is a convenient way to practically get acquainted with all the nuances of spending and saving," explained Georgy Gorshkov. "We decided that the service should grow with the child, so access is provided depending on their age: the older the child gets, the more opportunities they have to manage their finances - under parental control. This approach should help children understand how to handle money so that in adulthood they can confidently plan a budget, achieve goals, and feel financially secure."

The launch of VTB's children's bank fits into the overall trend of recent years: most major Russian banks, including T-Bank and Alfa-Bank, now offer products for young audiences with elements of financial literacy education and parental control. For banks, this is a way not only to teach children how to handle money wisely but also to build loyalty among future clients long before they start using adult products - opening deposits, issuing cards, and taking out loans.
