Five children and 40 adults drowned in the Nizhny Novgorod region in the summer.

      On August 31, 2026, at 17:05, Incidents: Since the beginning of summer, 45 people have died in the water bodies of the Nizhny Novgorod region. Among them are five children, reported NIA "Nizhny Novgorod" in the press service of the regional Ministry of Emergency Situations. Another 15 people were rescued, including two children. In total, since January, 63 people have died in water bodies in the Nizhny Novgorod region. Among them are seven children. During the same period, 26 people were rescued, including two children.
