August 29, 2026 09:00 Politics The Nizhny Novgorod region is fulfilling all the tasks set before it regarding assistance to participants of the special military operation (SMO). This was reported by the governor of the Nizhny Novgorod region, Gleb Nikitin, during a working meeting with the President of Russia, Vladimir Putin, which took place in Nizhny Novgorod on August 28. According to Gleb Nikitin, the region is fully addressing the tasks of equipping the Armed Forces. At the same time, special attention, as noted by Nikitin, is paid to supporting participants of the SMO and their families. The governor specifically addressed humanitarian aid and the delivery of cargo to the line of combat contact. He reported that more than 790 humanitarian convoys and over 5,200 tons of cargo have been sent from the region. In addition, drones, including those produced in Nizhny Novgorod, are being supplied to the SMO zone. Gleb Nikitin also informed the president about the work being done to create comfortable conditions for veterans after returning from the SMO, calling it an important direction. "We are developing adaptation programs, assisting with employment, and training in new in-demand specialties. We are one of the leaders in this indicator," said Gleb Nikitin. He noted that the main target remains the employment level of participants in the special military operation. Nikitin also emphasized the importance of developing the independence of veterans and supporting those who want to start their own business. For this purpose, the project "SVOye delo" is active in the Nizhny Novgorod region, which has already attracted 385 participants since its launch. It was previously reported that the project inclusive office in the Nizhny Novgorod region and the "Defenders of the Fatherland" fund helped find jobs for more than 130 participants of the military special operation with disabilities in 2026.
