A resident of Dzerzhinsk was sentenced to 21 years for the brutal murder of a woman.

      On August 31, 2026, at 14:36, Incidents: The Nizhny Novgorod Regional Court sentenced a 40-year-old resident of Dzerzhinsk to 21 years in a strict regime colony for the brutal murder of a young woman. This was reported by the press service of the regional court.

      The crime was committed near the Volozhka River in August 2025. According to law enforcement agencies, the man was drinking in a forest plantation, after which he attacked an unfamiliar woman, strangled her, inflicted multiple blows to her head with a hammer and knife, committed violent sexual acts against her, and stole 8,000 rubles. The victim died from her injuries.

      The court found the 40-year-old Dzerzhinsk resident guilty of murder with particular cruelty, associated with robbery and violent sexual acts, violent sexual acts, and robbery. He received 21 years in a strict regime colony. After his release, his freedom will be restricted for another two years.

      The civil claim of the victim's side was also fully satisfied. The man was ordered to pay 2 million rubles in compensation for moral damage and 270,295 rubles for property damage. The sentence has not yet entered into legal force.
