How much will a bouquet cost for September 1st in Nizhny Novgorod?

      On the eve of September 1, the main question that concerns parents is: "How much will the flowers cost, and will it hit the wallet?" A correspondent from NIA "Nizhny Novgorod" visited flower shops to find out how much a festive bouquet might cost.

      What’s what: from 99 rubles for a "baby" to 1000 for a hydrangea

      The most affordable option is small bush roses, with stems no longer than 40 centimeters. In flower shops, they can be found starting at 99 rubles each. Classic medium-sized roses are sold for 200-250 rubles, while large ones with high buds cost 350-400 rubles.

      Chrysanthemums, one of the most sought-after flowers, are priced at 199-350 rubles per stem depending on size and variety. Dahlias, which florists call the "hit of the season," cost 250-350 rubles for a large specimen. Hydrangeas are a more expensive pleasure: from 600 rubles for a small branch to 1000 rubles for a lush head. Alstroemeria, stock, hypericum, and gerberas are in the range of 200-220 rubles. Eustoma is slightly more expensive—around 350 rubles per stem, but it adds a special tenderness to the bouquet. Lilies, according to sellers, always remain expensive—650 rubles per stem, and they are bought less often due to their strong aroma. Some flower shops offer to assemble a mono-bouquet of 19-21 stems for 150 rubles each, regardless of which flower you choose.

      How much does a bouquet cost: from budget to premium options

      Almost all salons offer ready-made festive sets in the range of 1500-2500 rubles and more. In some stores, compositions of chrysanthemums and hydrangeas are already waiting for customers at prices from 2200 to 2600 rubles, while in others, mixed bouquets with dahlias, bush roses, and greenery cost 2500-3000 rubles.

      At the same time, in some places, a mixed option with hydrangea and chrysanthemum can already cost 3300 rubles, which slightly exceeds the "standard" budget, but florists are always ready to offer cheaper alternatives.

      Should we expect a price increase?

      The correspondent specifically asked sellers whether prices would rise just before September 1. The answers turned out to be ambiguous. In some salons, it was stated that the increase had already occurred—for example, chrysanthemums have risen by about 25% compared to the previous purchase.

      "We have already raised prices a little; this is related to the new supply," explained the consultant.

      At the same time, other items, such as dahlias and roses, have remained at the same level for now. In other retail points, it was admitted that they expect a rise but could not name exact figures. Others, on the contrary, assured that they have fixed prices, and there will be no jump before the holiday.

      "If prices were going to rise, they would have already increased now because the new supply has already arrived. We have not received notifications about a price increase," explained the seller.

      It was also noted that pre-holiday demand does not itself affect the cost, as purchases are made in advance.

      Florists' tips: how to assemble a beautiful bouquet for 3000 rubles

      Almost all sellers recommend not to postpone the purchase until August 31—by that time, the freshest and most impressive specimens may be sold out. The optimal option is to come 2-3 days before the holiday so that the florist has time to select flowers within your budget.

      However, it is worth remembering that there is a ban in Russia on gifts to teachers worth more than three thousand rubles. A teacher is a public official, and an overly expensive gift may be seen as a hidden form of bribery.

      To stay within 3000 rubles, specialists advise combining bush roses, chrysanthemums, and greenery (fern or raspberry leaves). Such a composition looks lush and costs around 2500-2800 rubles. A more expensive accent—hydrangea or eustoma—can be added as a single touch to avoid exceeding the budget.

      Florists also point out that there is no need to be afraid to use "non-formal" flowers: dahlias, gerberas, alstroemeria, or even carnations (which can be not only red but also white, cream, and pink). In mixed bouquets, they look fresh and original, and they cost significantly less than classic roses. For example, stock for 200 rubles, according to sellers, "smells very nice" and perfectly complements an autumn composition.
