Vladimir Putin was briefed on new developments in the Nizhny Novgorod automotive cluster.
On August 29, 2026, at 11:09, Economy President of Russia Vladimir Putin visited the Nizhny Novgorod automotive cluster on August 28—a complex that unites various automotive enterprises and productions, reported the press service of the regional government. During the visit, the head of state was presented with the automotive brand VOLGA. Serial production of these cars began in April of this year, and sales started in June. The president inspected the K40, K50, and C50 models, as well as the assembly line for their production.
Then, at the wheel of the VOLGA K50, Vladimir Putin drove to the engine plant located within the automotive cluster. There, the president was shown the production and assembly line for diesel engines, informed about plans for the development and localization of gasoline engines, and also demonstrated various transport models equipped with engines from the plant.
During his visit to the Gorky Automobile Plant, Vladimir Putin also interacted with employees of the Unified Engineering Center of the enterprise. The president was introduced to a modular platform for "Gazelles"—a technical solution that allows equipping the vehicle with a diesel, gasoline, gas engine, hybrid installation, or electric drive without significant changes. Its configuration also allows for varying the wheelbase length and roof height, installing cargo and passenger bodies, as well as creating models with all-wheel, front, or rear drive.
While communicating with the team of the enterprise, Vladimir Putin noted that the employees have very interesting, creative, and necessary work.
"It is very important that you look beyond the horizon, into the future. It is pleasant to note that there are people who know, want, and do everything to ensure that in two or three decades everything will be stable, reliable, and durable," emphasized Vladimir Putin.
The head of state was accompanied by Deputy Head of the Presidential Administration of the Russian Federation Maxim Oreshkin, Minister of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation Anton Alikhanov, Plenipotentiary Representative of the President in the Volga Federal District Igor Komarov, and Governor of Nizhny Novgorod Region Gleb Nikitin.
Earlier, it was reported that the president visited an exhibition of technology companies that are participants and winners of the competition for emerging Russian brands "Know Our Own."
