Biometric boarding for trains has been launched from Nizhny Novgorod to Kirov and Ivanovo.

Nizhny Novgorod station has become the first in the country from where passengers can travel biometrically on three routes. This was announced at the project presentation attended by a correspondent from NIA "Nizhny Novgorod."

      Previously, the technology was already in use on the Nizhny Novgorod - Moscow route. Now, two more directions have been added, strengthening Nizhny Novgorod's role as one of the key sites for the implementation of digital services in railways. Sergey Kobzev, the first deputy general director of JSC "Russian Railways," explained that Nizhny Novgorod was chosen not by chance: the city remains one of the leaders in the development of digital technologies, and it is here that new IT solutions are most often launched. According to him, for passengers, this primarily means convenience and time savings.

      "We are talking about 15 seconds today, about 7 seconds," he noted, emphasizing that boarding occurs quickly and almost unnoticed by the passenger.

      Alexander Sinelobov, the Minister of Digital Development and Communications of the Nizhny Novgorod region, stated that biometrics make familiar trips simpler and faster. According to him, this is especially convenient in situations where a passenger is in a hurry or traveling with belongings and children. He reminded that Nizhny Novgorod region is one of the first in the country to implement biometric services - in the metro and MFC, and now this experience is developing on the railways as well.

      In addition, biometrics can now be submitted on the second floor of the Moscow station in Nizhny Novgorod.
