In the Nizhny Novgorod region, the acceptance of applications for the status of an NTO site has begun.
On August 16, 2026, at 09:50 Society The selection of venues for preparation for the National Technological Olympiad (NTO) for the 2026/2027 academic year has begun. Schools, colleges, universities, and organizations of additional education in the Nizhny Novgorod region can obtain the status of an in-person venue. The National Technological Olympiad is held in conjunction with the Presidential platform "Russia - a country of opportunities" under the coordination of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation and with the support of the Movement of the First, the Agency for Strategic Initiatives, and the Autonomous Non-Profit Organization "NTI Platform." Applications are accepted until September 15.
Preparation venues play one of the key roles in the NTO ecosystem. They help students develop engineering, research, and project competencies, prepare for participation in the profiles of the Olympiad, and support teams at all stages of the competition. Preparation programs may include NTO lessons, regular classes, specialized courses, workshops, hackathons, team competitions, and analysis of past years' Olympiad tasks.
"Training engineering personnel for the technological development of the country requires the unification of efforts at all levels - from schools and additional education to universities and technological companies. In this sense, the NTO creates an important synergistic effect: preparation venues help form the necessary knowledge and skills in students, the Olympiad provides the opportunity to apply them to real engineering tasks, and partnerships with universities and industry help build further educational and professional trajectories. The closer all participants in this system interact, the more opportunities we create for the kids and the stronger the personnel foundation for the technological future of Russia," said Mikhail Gusev, Director of Marketing and Analytics at the Presidential platform "Russia - a country of opportunities."
You can obtain or confirm the status of a preparation venue until September 15 on the digital platform "Talent" of the NTI Circle movement. Applications are accepted from organizations that are already preparing participants or planning to open a training program in one or more NTO profiles. The NTO preparation venue develops an educational program and a monthly schedule of classes, conducts classes according to the approved program, and creates conditions for preparing participants, including equipping the venue.
Certified venues are included in the official list of NTO preparation venues - this contributes to the development of cooperation with the educational community, increases the organization's recognition, and expands opportunities for attracting students to engineering education.
"The NTO ecosystem allows students to start familiarizing themselves with technologies practically from scratch and gradually move on to solving complex engineering tasks. Preparation venues play a special role here: it is on them that an environment is formed where one can try programming, artificial intelligence, robotics, and other technological areas, gain practical experience, and understand which field is truly interesting. It is important that such a path is accessible to students regardless of their starting level. The more educational organizations connect to the NTO preparation system, the more opportunities students have to take their first steps in technologies and subsequently link their education and professional development to them," noted Ivan Khudorozhkov, Deputy Director of the NTO Center at HSE University.
The National Technological Olympiad is the first and largest team engineering competition in Russia for students in grades 5-11 and university and college students. The Olympiad aims to develop engineering thinking, prepare future technological leaders, and engage youth in solving pressing problems in science and high-tech industries. Participants work on real engineering tasks created in collaboration with leading technological companies and universities in the country, master modern technologies, and gain experience in team project work.
The NTO has been held since 2015, and over 11 years, the competition has brought together more than 1.1 million participants from all regions of Russia and 77 foreign countries. In the 2025/2026 academic year, 226,000 students registered to participate in the Olympiad.
The NTO is conducted as part of the national project "Youth and Children," with the project office of the Olympiad based at HSE University under the methodological support of the NTI Circle movement. The organizational committee of the NTO is headed by the First Deputy Head of the Administration of the President of the Russian Federation, Sergey Kiriyenko, and the Deputy Chairman of the Government of the Russian Federation, Dmitry Chernyshenko.
